José Lemus, graduate fellow, is focused on assisting the Community Impact and Engagement Team develop a quasi-endowment fund to support women and minority hardtech entrepreneurs. As an experienced community development professional, José has worked with communities across the country to design inclusive economic growth strategies that center women and entrepreneurs of color. José is passionate about leveraging partnerships and impact investment to build inclusive industry ecosystems.
José is a Master’s candidate in Public Policy at the University of Michigan with a concentration in economic development. Prior to entering graduate school, José helped establish CareerLadder, a workforce development initiative that helps skilled immigrants and refugees access in-demand industries. CareerLadder has helped seven major employers modernize their internal career pathways, and was recognized with a Google Impact Challenge Award.
José is a Rackham Fellow at the University of Michigan and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
