Development and Engagement Coordinator
Jhanelle Smith, development and engagement coordinator, works to build and maintain relationships with community partners, startups, and local talent to strengthen connections and contribute to growth within the mHUB community. She also works daily to maintain mHUB’s quality programming, while integrating new programs and classes into the fold.
Prior to joining mHUB, Jhanelle worked as the inventory manager of the most successful coffee shop on her university’s campus. Her prior experience in a variety of areas has earned her valuable skills in management, research, and client services. As informed by her previous work with nonprofits (like living history museum Naper Settlement), Jhanelle believes strongly in the idea that connection and education can effect incredible change.
In her free time, Jhanelle loves writing and performing poetry and songs at local venues, going to concerts (in any genre of music), baking, and long bike rides along Lake Shore Drive. She also loves learning about different cultures and their languages. In addition to German, she is currently learning Korean. Jhanelle graduated from the University of Chicago with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Global Studies and Germanic Studies.
