Global Ties to Chicago Grow as International Teams Locate to mHUB

CHICAGO – Startups with ties to more than 7 countries have located or relocated to mHUB in the past two years as Chicago continues to gain momentum as a destination for innovation in product development and manufacturing.

Companies have joined the community for access to mHUB’s robust prototyping and training resources, as well as its network of nearly 1,000 innovators, entrepreneurs, corporations, investors, and manufacturers. In addition to organic location, connections to these global companies were established through collaboration between mHUB and trade organizations and chambers of commerce, including the Italian Trade Agency, French American Chamber of Commerce, and others.

Since the peak of the industrial revolution, manufacturing has been a vital driving component of Chicago’s economy. By the end of the 19th century, the region’s manufacturing industry had made Chicago a globally-recognized city. Since that time, manufacturing has been an essential element in the region’s economy, and the recent boom in incubators and innovation centers position the city as a hub for R&D and manufacturing technology.

Gaston Mille, a premium brand for industrial safety shoes, has for more than 100 years designed, tested and launched the production of each of its models in the family factory of south of France.
Mark One
Mark One, an Italian startup, produces customized 3D printers focusing on the research and development of technical solutions, innovative materials, and on the integration of 3D printing in the work environment.

Mixartista
Mixartista, an Italian company, has created a patented robotic bartender that is technologically and aesthetically innovative, and ultimately designed to prepare perfect cocktails in line with the latest trends in mixology.
Revtech Process Systems
Revtech Process Sytems, based in France, specializes in manufacturing industrial equipment for the pasteurization, roasting, and heat treatment of dry ingredients and chemical products.
Startchy
Startchy, a Lebanese-American company, creates an all-natural, edible coating solution that can be applied to fruits and vegetables to extend shelf life.

Koa
Changing bed sheets can a frustrating, energy-sapping chore. Koa, based in the United Kingdom, has been busy building an innovative duvet cover that takes the hassle out of changing the sheets on your bed.
Powermatic Technologies
Powermatic Technologies is an intelligent power management solutions developer and manufacturer with operations spreading from the Middle East and Africa to Europe.
Neopenda
Neopenda, with presence in the U.S. and Uganda, employs user-centric design to create affordable medical solutions that benefit underserved populations, enabling high quality patient care.

mHUB is continuing conversations with additional global teams through agreements with other countries. Last week, mHUB announced a partnership with Korea SMEs and Startup Agency (KOSME), to provide programming and resources for Illinois and Korean product-based startups looking to enter global markets.
