Materials Selection and Evaluation
Join us for an interactive discussion on why materials selection is so important and how it can impact the entire product development process, from what materials will and won't solve, where and when to start, and what pitfalls to avoid. Whether you're looking to develop a product, or just want to have a better understanding of materials and the proper selection criteria, this class led by mHUB Member, Sarah Severson, will help you understand the impact of choosing the right materials early.
Sheet Metal Simplified
For many products, sheet metal forms the structure, backbone, or housing. And for your money, you can’t make a stronger “L” bracket any other way. With a wide range of material properties and finishes, sheet metal is a go-to solution for things around us in all major industrial verticals. Mike Tumillo, Co-Founder and VP of Business Development of Prismier, LLC, will teach you about the engineering and economics of successfully designing sheet metal parts and assemblies.
Market Ready Products: Overcoming Your Current Roadblocks
For entrepreneurs in two scenarios: 1) entered the market with an MVP, or 2) have an idea and are collecting pre-MVP sales (e.g., KickStarter, eCommerce). If you fall into one of these two scenarios, then you’ve probably hit a wall as you go-to-market. This class, taught by Jeff Paykin from Accenture, will cover common issues with sales, product development, and fundraising as you pursue growth beyond your first customer. See below for prerequisites for attending the class.

FOURTH REVOLUTION AWARDS
Thank you to those who joined us for our 2nd Annual Fourth Revolution Awards. The event saw over 300 attendees gathered to recognize corporate leaders, product developers, and small manufacturers. Your continued support of the region’s innovation in physical product development shows the power of this community. The ceremony culminated in the presentation of eight awards to deserving leaders, companies, and industrial initiatives that have made significant contributions to the Chicago region's manufacturing ecosystem. All event sponsorship and proceeds supported mHUB and DMDII's programmatic initiatives including education, diversity and inclusion, outreach to small manufacturers, and scholarships.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution fuses physical product development with digital processes to impact all disciplines, economies and industries, and even challenges ideas about what it means to be human. Central to this revolution are emerging technology breakthroughs in fields such as the Internet of Things, autonomous vehicles, 3D printing, robotics, and artificial intelligence. It is a technological revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another. In its scale, scope, and complexity, the transformation will be unlike anything humankind has experienced before.
