Smart Bet's Winter 2018 Tech Executives Poker Tournament will be held on February 22nd, 2018 at mHUB at 6pm. It's an evening of poker, great drinks and great food. The tournament features an open bar and great food. They're aiming to build on the $1,000,000+ that we've already raised for educational programs in the Chicago Area.

mHUB's Starting Up program:
mHUB is launching an 18-month program pilot Starting Up program to recruit underrepresented communities including African Americans, Latinos, and women, particularly from the south side and west side of Chicago to explore physical product entrepreneurship. The Starting Up program will the first of its kind focused exclusively to encourage the development of minority own product- based business in Chicago. Today, less than 20% of all small businesses are owned by African Americans, Latinos, and women. These groups only represent 30% of those engaged in the manufacturing or physical product sector, and in Illinois, only 8% of the manufacturing businesses are minority owned. mHUB aims to create the six-week, 74-hour cohort-based Starting Up program to begin to fill the minority entrepreneurship gaps with business and technical know-how, financial support for product development and access to new valuable networks of people, and market opportunities to enable commercialization of their products. Selected, participants will receive four hours of tailored curriculum per week, in addition to up to two hours of mentorship and three hours of hands-on technical training and assistance to address the business and technical gaps specific to the participant’s product ideas. Funding will provide participants with a stipend for transportation, materials for prototyping and contractor/consulting time for product fabrication.
