After coaching and mentorship from Clean Energy Trust staff and external subject matter experts, these 8 finalist teams will pitch at the final event to determine the winner of the $50,000 Cleantech University Prize sponsored by the Department of Energy.

Switched On: Student Innovations in Cleantech will showcase 8 of the most innovative cleantech business ideas being worked on by university students throughout the Midwest. After coaching and mentorship from Clean Energy Trust staff and external subject matter experts, these 8 finalist teams will pitch at the final event to determine the winner of the $50,000 Cleantech University Prize sponsored by the Department of Energy.

Switched On will give attendees a glimpse into the early stages of research commercilization and science entrepreneurship, the opportunity to learn more about how our Midwestern universities are supporting student companies, and a chance for high level networking with our university and civic partners.

Student innovations will be presented from the following universities:

Case Western Reserve University - Cleveland, OH

Iowa State University - Ames, IA

Northwestern University - Chicago, IL

University of Chicago - Chicago, IL

University of Kentucky - Lexington, KY

University of Minnesota - Minneapolis, MN

Washington University in St. Louis - St. Louis, MO

About Cleantech University Prize:

As one of eight regional partners for the Department of Energy’s Cleantech UP, Clean Energy Trust will showcase the most innovative and promising university-based cleantech companies in the Midwest, of which one will receive a $50,000 grant.

The winner of our final event –Switched On: Student Innovations in Cleantech– will be determined by a panel of expert cleantech industry judges. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers will also go on to present at the Department of Energy’s National Cleantech UP competition in Summer 2018.
