President and Chief Executive Officer, Marmon Energy Services Company

Roger W. Shores joined Marmon Holding’s in early 2011 and was recently appointed to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Marmon Energy Services Company.  The company employs nearly 9,000 people worldwide and is organized through four primary sectors:

Rail Products and Services, which include Union Tank Car the world’s largest full-service lessor of bulk liquid railroad tank cars, EXSIF the leading global lessor of intermodal tank containers and Railserve North America’s foremost switching & transloading operator and manufacturer of gen-set powered switching locomotives offered both for sale as well as part of an operating lease.

Engineered Wire and Cable, an assembly of fourteen autonomous business units providing high performance power and data cable systems to end markets such as; Electric Utilities, Oil & Gas, Aerospace & Defense, and Municipal Transit. 

Crane Services, an operating lessor of mobile cranes ranging from 10 to 1,375-ton capacity with locations across Canada and the United States under the brand of Sterling Crane and in Australia under the Freo moniker.

Engineered Products, providing OEM and aftermarket resilient wheels, gearboxes and loose gearing to the Locomotive and Transit markets under the brands of Penn Locomotive and Penn Transit as well as capital equipment and associated aftermarket parts under the brands of Trackmobile, the world’s largest mobile railcar mover and Enersul, the global leader in sulfur processing equipment.

Prior to joining Marmon in 2011, Mr. Shores spent the majority of his career with Illinois Tool Works where he served as President of the ITW Industrial Group.

Roger earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.   A leader in Chicago civic and charitable affairs, he is an active member and past Board Chairman for the Chicago Youth Centers organization and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Jesse White Tumblers. He is an active member of Chicago’s Council on Global Affairs and Economic Club.  A native of southeastern Massachusetts, Roger moved to Chicago in 1992. He resides in the cities Old Town neighborhood with his wife Cynthia and two children, Crosby and Chloe.
