Dr. Jeffrey Margolis is the founder and president of Innovations Strategies Inc, a consulting firm that builds growth and partnership pathways for science and technology organizations, from startups to renowned research institutions. Dr. Margolis brings extensive experience all along the innovation pipeline – from scientist to commercialization capacity builder – to this venture. In his various roles he has developed and driven institutions and initiatives that have supported thousands of scientists, technologists, and entrepreneurs. His impact includes launching a flagship White House technology entrepreneurship program while at the U.S. Department of State and playing a leadership role in delivering the federal Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute (DMDII) to Illinois. He has advised and mentored over 100 technology entrepreneurs and startups in various capacities at the local, national, and global levels.
Prior to launching Innovation Strategies, Dr. Margolis served as Vice President of External Engagement at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, the State of Illinois’ globally-recognized STEM academy. His leadership included launching a first-of-its-kind secondary education innovation center in partnership with fellow alum and YouTube co-founder Steven Chen.
Dr. Margolis is a proud recipient of multiple recognitions, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s prestigious Science & Technology Policy Fellowship. He is honored to serve on civic boards and advisory groups, including the board of mHUB - an organization he helped launch when he was managing director of the Illinois Science and Technology Coalition. He holds a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from Stanford University and has enjoyed driving the impact of science on society across multiple fields and industries.
